How To Wear A Skater Skirt From Day To Night

Hey there, this is Nicole with Curves On A Budget! My goal is combine affordability with fashion to bring my readers the best on trend looks without breaking the bank. When it comes to fashion I think the smartest way to save money is to know how to transition pieces for multiple occasions.  I know a lot of people (myself included) purchase a garment for a certain occasion and then never wear it again because they aren’t sure how. So today I’m going to show you how I style this blue skater skirt from day to night. I picked this skirt because it’s such a fun bold color to wear and it’s perfect for spring time.

For the day time look I kept everything casual and chic making it the perfect look explore a new city, run some errands, or have girl’s day! I paired the skirt with a floral v-neck top and for added comfort and to keep the look bright and fun for Spring. I added a yellow crossbody bag because it’s an unexpected color choice, but it pulls the yellow from the top and makes the skirt even more vibrant. The shoes are lightweight sandals because this outfit is all about staying casual and comfortable.

For the night time look I wanted to keep be polished, but keep everything to a minimum; no layers, minimal color, simple accessories.  Nothing is worse than having an extra layer on while you’re out dancing and you get hot, but there’s nowhere to put it. Nobody’s got time for that! I chose a simple white top with feminine lace detail on the arms and collar. I swapped the crossbody for a nude clutch to maintain simplicity and elegance.

By swapping out a few pieces I can easily take this skirt from day to night without buying two completely different outfits. It took me a long time to figure this concept out, but once I did I saw my wardrobe in a whole new light and you will too!

DIY: COLOR-BLOCKED NEGATIVE SPACE NAIL ART

It’s time to store those winter colors and get some pretty spring polishes on your fingertips! Today, I’ll be sharing a fun color-blocked negative space design that’s the perfect way to get you in the mood for the upcoming season. The polishes I used are Wet Seal’s Nude, Lavender Ice, and Lilac Grey. Let’s get started!

1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails, and help the polish adhere better.

2. Place two pieces of striping tape onto the nail to create a side ‘V’ shape.

3. Apply each polish to one of the sections created by the striping tape. Carefully remove the tape right after, before the polish dries.

4. Apply a top coat to help protect your manicure, and you’re done!

DIY: NYE NAILS

‘Tis the season for glittery nails, and what better way to celebrate the new year than with a perfectly manicured hand (aside from a midnight kiss of course)?  We have put together an easy New Years Eve nail look that is so simple I was able to paint my dominant hand and have it still turn out good!  Follow the steps below for a fun sparkly nail look.

Step 1: Pick a solid polish and a glittery polish for good contrast (we used WS Gel Effect Polish in Bordeaux and Champagne).

Step 2: Take your solid color and paint 2 coats on your nails for a seamless look.

Step 3: Once your nails have fully dried, get some tape and form a triangular shape that you will be filling in with the glitter polish in the next step.

Step 4: Fill in the triangular shape with our glittery Champagne nail polish.

Step 5: Once the triangle is filled in with the glittery polish, take the tape off and WA-LAH, beautiful nails that can take you from holiday to New Years Eve party.
